3A Girls Quarterfinals | All Four Seeds Hold — Except One | March Madness Alaska 2026
Wednesday, March 18, 2026 | UAA Alaska Airlines Center
Three of the top four seeds in the 3A girls bracket punched their tickets to the semifinals Wednesday, but the #3 seed did not make it through. Freshman Maci Miller and Kenai Central knocked out Mt. Edgecumbe in the morning session, while Barrow, Grace Christian, and Monroe Catholic handled business to set up a loaded semifinal round Thursday.
Here is how each quarterfinal played out.
Monroe Catholic 59, Delta Junction 28
Two players, 40 points, and it wasn’t that close.
Monroe Catholic’s Trinity Turiel and Leila Church each scored 20, and a 24-point first quarter put Delta in a hole they never climbed out of. Five Rams connected on seven threes as a team. The #2 seed cruised even through a slow second quarter — Delta kept it within reach briefly, but Monroe pulled away and held them to 28.
Valencea Beck led Delta with 9.
Monroe Catholic advances.
Final: Monroe Catholic 59, Delta Junction 28 (3A Girls Quarterfinal)
Kenai Central 43, Mt. Edgecumbe 40
Freshman Maci Miller went off from three and the #3 seed went home early.
Miller hit five threes and scored 21, with 7 of those in a third quarter where Kenai outscored Edgecumbe 19-9 to turn a tied game into a lead that looked safe. Mt. Edgecumbe kept coming. Tanira Akaran had 9, Charity Mila and Evangeline Hank each had 8, and Gracelynn Friske added 7 for the Wolverines. They were a single shot from tying it in the closing seconds.
Kenai moves on.
Final: Kenai Central 43, Mt. Edgecumbe 40 (3A Girls Quarterfinal)
Grace Christian 66, Galena 54
Galena scored 4 points in the second quarter and never recovered.
Grace Christian, the three-time defending 3A champions, built their lead in that stretch and MJ Van der Horst made sure it held — she finished with 20 points to lead all scorers. Poppy Wiggers-Pidduck added 17 and Molly Schild chipped in 8. Grace connected on six threes as a team.
Galena’s Danica Billings had 15 and Zaylin Barr added 11, but the second quarter hole was too deep.
Grace Christian advances.
Final: Grace Christian 66, Galena 54 (3A Girls Quarterfinal)
Barrow 71, Kotzebue 20
The #1 seed didn’t wait around.
Barrow dropped 34 points in the first quarter and the game was already decided. Ahmela McFadden had 14 and Aiga Unutoa matched her with 14. Kylen Burnell chipped in 11 and Faith Tivao had 9. Zedah Unutoa added 8 and Selagi Unutoa 6. Kotzebue scored one basket and one free throw in the entire second half. The Huskies earned their spot here by beating Nome-Beltz twice at the Western Conference tournament — Barrow was just a different problem.
Barrow is through.
Final: Barrow 71, Kotzebue 20 (3A Girls Quarterfinal)
