4A Boys Semifinal | South Made the Adjustment | March Madness Alaska 2026
Friday, March 20, 2026 | UAA Alaska Airlines Center
Jayden Miranda had been named the Gatorade Player of the Year earlier that day. South Anchorage held him to two second-half points.
Miranda was the story in the first half — 14 points, attacking efficiently, looking every bit the part. But South made adjustments at the break, and after halftime he managed just two free throws. The Wolverines closed out a 59–52 win in the 4A Boys Semifinal at March Madness Alaska 2026 and are headed to Saturday night's championship game.
West Valley made it a fight. Deontae Cromer tied it at 43 with seven minutes left in the fourth, and TJ Small hit two threes in the final four minutes — the second knotting it at 50 with 3:06 to play. South had an answer both times. Lucian Mikes converted an and-one to break the first tie. Gavin Veerman drove baseline to push it back to three. When Small tied it again, Lincoln Marchant read a Miranda pass, took it, and finished through contact on the other end.
South didn't flinch from there. Mikes drove through Halen Nield at 1:20 to make it 54–50. West Valley was scrambling to foul anybody they could find — South moved the ball through the pressure and Henrie slipped free for the finish. 57–50, 24 seconds left.
Seven Wolverines scored. Mikes led with 16, Jaxon Henrie matched him, Marchant added 11. Nield had 18 for West Valley, Miranda 16. They made every run they had. South just kept answering.
Final: South Anchorage 59, West Valley 52 (4A Boys Semifinal)
