4A Girls Quarterfinals | Kronberger, Passard Headline a Wide-Open Semifinal Field | March Madness Alaska 2026

Wednesday, March 18, 2026 | UAA Alaska Airlines Center

Keelie Kronberger had just been named Gatorade Player of the Year and answered with 45. The defending champions trailed after three quarters and needed the fourth to survive. One team held an opponent to 34. A freshman nobody was talking about walked out with Player of the Game honors.

Here is how Wednesday played out.

MCCA 79, North Pole 42

Keelie Kronberger had just been named Gatorade Player of the Year. She responded with 45 points in her first game since the announcement.

The Oral Roberts signee hit at least one three in every quarter and finished with six on the night. MCCA put it away in the second quarter, outscoring North Pole 23-6 to turn a nine-point lead into a rout. Kronberger was the constant. Jasmine Schaeffer added 14, Brooklynn Ridgeway chipped in 9, and Zoe Jones added 8. Kronberger’s 45 were the most by an MCCA player at the state tournament since 2023.

Dawson Smothers led North Pole with 17, hitting four threes. Jade Skipps added 13.

MCCA advances to the 4A Girls semifinals.

Final: MCCA 79, North Pole 42 (4A Girls Quarterfinal)

Service 63, Wasilla 50

The third quarter settled it.

Service outscored Wasilla 14-8 in the third to turn a two-point halftime lead into a margin the Lady Warriors couldn’t close. Sialeia Silva led the Cougars with 16, Aryanna Watson — the co-CIC Player of the Year — added 15, and Manu David chipped in 15 as well. It was Service’s first trip to the state semifinals since 2005.

UAA signee Savannah Kroon carried Wasilla with 16 and Katie Jackson added 12. They kept it close for a half. The third quarter just wasn’t survivable.

The loss drops Wasilla to consolation. It also marks the final state tournament game for head coach Jeannie Truax-Hebert, who led the program for 32 years.

Final: Service 63, Wasilla 50 (4A Girls Quarterfinal)

Bartlett 53, Juneau-Douglas 34

Bartlett scored 13 in the first quarter and Juneau-Douglas spent the rest of the game trying to close a gap that kept growing.

Sophomore Kennedi Gaines led with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Freshman Farrah Gamechuk added 11 and Harmony Jenkins-Foster chipped in 8. The Bears held Juneau-Douglas to 34 points across four quarters. It was Bartlett’s first semifinal appearance since winning the 4A title in 2021.

Layla Tokuoka led Juneau-Douglas with 12, Athena Ware added 7.

Colony 59, West Anchorage 47

The defending champions trailed by two after three quarters and had to earn it.

Fourth-seeded Colony rallied in the fourth to hold off fifth-seeded West Anchorage 59-47 and keep their title defense alive. West outscored Colony 17-11 in the third quarter to take the lead, and Wednesday Bithow was the engine — she finished with 21 points, including 11 in that third quarter. Colony answered with 23 points in the fourth.

Freshman Taylor Passard led Colony with 25 points and earned Player of the Game honors. Fellow freshman Bri Parrent added 10. West had beaten Colony 46-36 back in January, and made them work for the rematch win too.

Semifinal Matchups — Friday, March 20

Friday delivers two matchups worth circling.

MCCA vs Colony. 3:15 PM, Main Gym. Three meetings this season. Colony won the first two — by 14 and two. MCCA took the last one 48-36 and has the momentum. Both programs came through the Prospect studio this weekend. The players talked about each other with genuine respect. Friday afternoon they settle it in one game.

Bartlett vs Service. 4:45 PM, Main Gym. Bartlett beat Service four times this season. By 14, 11, 20, and 20. Service walked into the Prospect studio last weekend and Bartlett was the first name out of their mouths. They have seen enough film. They know what is waiting. They want it anyway.

Friday afternoon at the UAA Alaska Airlines Center.
