4A Girls Semifinal | Koenig Steps Up as MCCA Holds Off Colony | March Madness Alaska 2026

Friday, March 20, 2026 | UAA Alaska Airlines Center

Two freshmen. One game. The defending state champion on one side, the freshly crowned Gatorade Player of the Year on the other. Colony came with a plan for Kronberger — and it worked for three quarters.

MCCA's Keelie Kronberger, named Alaska's Gatorade Player of the Year just days before the tournament, dropped 45 in the quarterfinal against North Pole. Friday, Colony's stifling defense held her without a three through three quarters. But Kronberger still had a double-double when it was over, and when the game was on the line she broke free for the three that mattered most. MCCA freshman Rachelle Koenig bookended the run with two threes — one to tie it, one to extend it — with Kronberger's first three of the game sandwiched in between.

Colony led 42-41 entering the fourth quarter. Koenig hit a three to tie it at 44-44 with 5:25 left. Kronberger answered with her first three of the game to put MCCA ahead 47-44. Koenig hit another at 4:26 to push it to 50-44. Brooklynn Ridgeway buried one from well beyond the arc at 2:33 to make it 55-47. MCCA closed it out at the free throw line.

Koenig earned Player of the Game honors with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Kronberger finished with 19 and 10 rebounds. Brooklynn Ridgeway added 12 and Jasmine Schaeffer finished with 9.

Colony freshman Taylor Passard finished with 23 points and 20 rebounds — 10 offensive. She was held scoreless in the first half of the fourth quarter but came back with two steals and clutch free throws in the final minutes. Colony's Morgan Ainsworth put up 11 and Emma Bailey added 7 including a putback with 27 seconds left.

MCCA is going to the 4A Girls championship. Friday belonged to the freshmen — on both sides.

Final: MCCA 62, Colony 54 (4A Girls Semifinal)
